Thursday, October 16 (Washington, D.C.) — Grid Action Executive Director Christina Hayes issued the following statement in response to Representatives Scott Peters (D-CA) and Andy Barr (R-KY) reintroducing the SPEED & Reliability Act:
“America urgently needs a faster, smarter process for approving new transmission lines to keep pace with soaring electricity demand from data centers and advanced manufacturing. The bipartisan SPEED & Reliability Act is a great step in that direction, reflecting some of the strongest proposals from the bipartisan reform considered by Congress at the end of last year. By cutting red tape and clarifying benefits to be considered by FERC, Congress can help ensure our energy system remains affordable, resilient, and ready for the future.”
