February 14, 2024 (Washington D.C.) — This week, Grid Action sent a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security, which today held a hearing on the challenges to reliable, affordable electricity. The letter urged members of the Subcommittee to consider the importance of increasing transmission capacity in their efforts to bolster reliability, with reference to the federal government’s past acknowledgement the robust role that it should play in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the grid.
“Building transmission is the single most impactful action we can take to ensure reliability and reduce energy costs in the long term. The federal government, with its overarching perspective and resources, is uniquely positioned to facilitate this effort,” the letter stated.
